Drone footage sharing is here. Share a Mirada case, complete with every photo, video, 360 capture, Eagle Eyes detection, and all the map data in it, with exactly who you choose. This release also makes Companion Mode in Eagle Eyes Pilot free for everyone, brings autonomous missions to the DJI Mini series, and adds terrain-following flight.
The release comes in two halves: Eagle Eyes Pilot 1.8.0 beta on your controller, and Mirada 0.1.7 on your laptop, or in a browser on any device. Both are betas, and you can install Pilot alongside your current stable release, so you always have a stable backup on hand.
Bring your whole team in, free
If you fly on an Eagle Eyes licence, this release adds to what you already had. What is new is everyone around you. A significant portion of Mirada's core functionality and features is free to use, and Companion Mode is free on any supported controller, so the people you stream to, share cases with and coordinate alongside can take part without buying anything of their own.

PAIDThe Pro tier
The Pro tier of Eagle Eyes is available at a modest price. This release adds credits, a pay as you go option, on top of our existing annual license. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
- Eagle Eyes Pilot in Full Piloting Mode with real-time detection
- Custom autonomous missions
- Real-time in-flight detection
- Live streaming
- Many more features
Running detection is paid, seeing detections is not. Watch a live stream from a paid Pilot user and it arrives with their detections included. Shared cases work the same way: the owner runs the Eagle Eyes detector and shares the results.
- Live streaming over the internet, to viewers not on your local Wi-Fi network. USD $0.06 per minute, or USD $0.05 per minute with a bundle. Local Wi-Fi streaming stays unlimited and free.
- Case sharing beyond the free 2 shares and 20 GB. An extra case share is USD $2.00, and storage past the free 20 GB is USD $0.20 per GB.
Buy credits in chunks as small as USD $3, so you only pay for what you actually use.
Streaming over the internet and sharing your footage rely on infrastructure we build and maintain, and stand behind for both security and uptime. That costs real money to run, so we charge a modest price for it. It is what keeps the service dependable on the day it matters most.
Mirada 0.1.7
Mirada is our ground analysis app. It helps your team look through drone imagery and serves as a real-time common operating picture for your Air Ops.
Drone Data Sharing BETA
A Mirada case is the drone side of one incident. If your team runs CalTopo, a case is the air-operations counterpart to a map: one shared picture of everything the drones on that operation gathered, yours and your team's alike. What is new is that it opens out to everyone around you. The barrier is gone, and a case is freely shareable with your whole team and anyone else you want in on the operation. It holds the drone footage, the map data, flight tracks, telemetry and metadata. You work across as many cases in Mirada as you have operations, the way you work across many maps in CalTopo.
Access works two ways. Invite specific people by their Google email address, or create a public link that anyone can open. Either way, whoever you share with opens the case in Mirada and can download the data to their own drive at any time.
Every account, including free ones, gets 2 shared cases and up to 20 GB of storage to share, free. Each share stays live for one month. Beyond that, an extra case share is USD $2.00, and storage past the free 20 GB is USD $0.20 per GB.
Every account getsincluding free accounts
More shares and storage, at about the price of a coffee
Shared cases and their links expire after one month.
Recipients can download the case data to their own drive at any time, and keep viewing it locally in Mirada, free, indefinitely.
What this is, and what it is not yet. We are building towards proper encrypted cloud storage for drone footage. This is not that yet. For now it is temporary storage for sharing, and cases and their links expire after a month. Nothing is lost when they do: recipients can download the data at any time and keep viewing it locally in Mirada, free, for as long as they like.
Next up, we're building a collaborative case sharing experience. More on that soon.
Load a Google Drive folder straight into Mirada
Paste a Google Drive folder link with drone footage in it straight into Mirada. Copy the link and Mirada will even spot it on your clipboard for you.
Mirada scans the folder first and tells you how many files and gigabytes are waiting. Everything then loads into your case, organized chronologically and by media type, geolocated and on the map, ready to view, analyze and share. Import the same folder again later and it picks up only what is new.
No Google sign-in required. It works off a shared link.
Desktop Mirada only for now.
Run the Eagle Eyes detector on 360 photos
A 360 photosphere is not one image, it is roughly 25 still photos stitched together. Mirada runs the Eagle Eyes detector on each of those source photos separately, at their own resolution, so nothing is lost to the stitch.
To capture one, tap the photo point button
in Eagle Eyes Pilot in Full Piloting Mode, and choose the 360 pano option.
Bringing 360 photos into Mirada? Import the source photos along with the stitched 360 pano image. DJI usually keeps the source photos in their own folder on the SD card, often named PANORAMA, separate from the stitched pano. Upload the complete set and Mirada groups them automatically. Without the source photos there is nothing for the Eagle Eyes detector to run on.
Run the Eagle Eyes detector on 360 video ALPHA
360 video works differently. Mirada splits each frame into about nine segments and runs the Eagle Eyes detector across them, sampling one frame per second. That sampling rate is what the detector uses, not what you watch.
Either way, detections are projected into the immersive 3D photosphere viewer, shown in the image mosaic view, and plotted at their estimated location on the map. You can search for anomalies across the entire 360 degrees.
We are calling 360 video Alpha for good reason. The viewing experience is still choppy, and we are actively refining both the viewer and the way the Eagle Eyes detector runs across 360 video. We are excited about where this goes, so tell us what you hit.
Eagle Eyes Pilot 1.8.0 Beta
Two ways to fly
There are now two core ways to run Eagle Eyes on your drone controller.
The way you are used to flying, with Eagle Eyes Pilot as your full piloting app. Custom autonomous missions, and the Eagle Eyes detector running live on your controller as you fly.
Eagle Eyes Pilot is installed on your drone controller and runs in the background, similar to apps like Airdata, while you fly in DJI Pilot 2. This is what we formerly referred to as background mode, now called Companion Mode, and it includes many big new capabilities for free.
Companion Mode is FREE FOR EVERYONE
The core features of Eagle Eyes are now free. Simple, fast install and setup, and anyone can use it. Here is what you get:
- Free live streaming. Streaming to viewers on your local Wi-Fi is 100% free, always. On top of that you get nearly two hours of free cloud streaming, so remote viewers anywhere on the internet can watch too. Beyond that, streaming over the internet runs on credits, from USD $0.06 per minute.
- Free live tracking to CalTopo. Your drone's track appears live on your CalTopo map.
- Free real-time photo points. Drop photo points into CalTopo as you shoot.
- Your drone's live position shared with your team in real time, in CalTopo and in Mirada.
Companion Mode works with a wide range of drones. See the compatibility list for the full picture.
Mini Missions
In addition to the Enterprise drones, we now enable autonomous custom flight missions for DJI Mini drones. You can fly the DJI Mini 3, Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro from Eagle Eyes Pilot.
DJI's own apps do not support autonomous flight missions for Mini drones. Eagle Eyes Pilot unlocks autonomous flight missions for Mini drones. See our compatibility page for supported drones and controllers.
Eagle Eyes Pilot Custom Terrain Following Missions
Missions can now fly relative to the terrain below the aircraft, not just at a fixed altitude from the launch point. Set your height above ground level, say 150 ft, and the aircraft holds it up the slope, over the ridge, and down the other side. Your ground sampling stays consistent from valley floor to ridgeline, and your mission never quietly runs out of clearance on rising ground.

Terrain following currently works on aircraft with live terrain-following support, the DJI Matrice 4 Series. We will soon extend AGL missions to a wider range of Eagle Eyes Pilot compatible aircraft, including the Mini 3 series.
High Res Detect
Capture a photo in Eagle Eyes Pilot while you are flying, and run the high res detector on the full resolution image your drone camera captured. Tap any of the up to 20 detections that come back from that image to zoom straight in, so you can investigate in real time while the drone is still in the air.
Overlap Photo Interval Capture
Interval photo capture in DJI Pilot 2 is timed, so the camera fires every few seconds whether or not anything in view has changed. Eagle Eyes Pilot captures on overlap instead. It uses computer vision to track how much of the camera's view is new, and fires the next photo once enough of it has changed. You set that threshold as a percentage: at the 50% default, a photo fires when half the pixels in view are new.
You get consistent coverage of everything you looked at, without stacks of duplicates. If the drone hovers in place, it simply waits until it is looking at something new.

Capture on overlap, not on a timer
When the drone hovers
The diagram shows a straight-down nadir capture, but overlap capture works whichever way the camera is pointed: down, forward, off to the side, or anywhere in between. Moving the drone and panning the gimbal both count as change.
Turn your DJI drone controller into an RID receiver
An Eagle Eyes RID receiver plugs into the controller by USB, and nearby aircraft broadcasting Remote ID show up live on your map, alongside your own drone. It works in both piloting and companion modes for Eagle Eyes Pilot. Support for other RID hardware is coming soon.
With the Eagle Eyes app and an Eagle Eyes RID Receiver.
Plenty more, too
- Photo resolution switching. Toggle between 4K (12 MP) and 8K (48 MP) in the camera settings in Eagle Eyes Pilot.
- Laser rangefinder to CalTopo. Your rangefinder track can be added to CalTopo, to show what you have already looked at.
- A lot of bug fixes. Significant work has gone into stability and fixes across both apps this cycle.
- Mirada runs smoother. A number of you told us Mirada was slowing your machine down. We have put real work into optimizing it, especially on lighter laptops. Tell us how it runs for you now.
- More for live operations and planning. We have continued adding to live operations, pre-flight planning, mapping, and map situational awareness.
- Improved 3D map in Mirada. Substantially smoother than before. Still under active development, so expect it to keep improving.
Thank you. A big shout out to everyone reporting bugs and sending feedback. It is greatly appreciated, and it helps us move much faster than we could on our own. It genuinely makes a difference. Please keep the bug reports, comments and suggestions coming.
There is a lot more coming. We have new features and capabilities lined up that we are genuinely excited about, landing soon, alongside a steady stream of smaller improvements across both apps.
Found an issue?
Both halves of this release are betas: Eagle Eyes Pilot 1.8.0 beta and Mirada 0.1.7 beta. Your feedback shapes where we go next. Pilot 1.8.0 installs alongside your current stable release on the controller, so you always have a stable backup on hand. If you find any issues, please let us know here 🛠️
